Month Review: January 2026
I decided to do monthly "reviews", just to mark my progress and update on life stuff.
Going to force myself to start with the positive news first.
I'm really having fun with web development again, which has been a major
upside since I started to hate webdev during school.
It's really refreshing getting to mess around with my own site and not worry
about being graded and what-not.
My coding skills have also greatly improved,
which was also helped by all the great documentation I have seen online
and the Nekoweb server I recently joined!
Something that's also helped me with developing this website is planning my layouts.
Drawing my concepts first and then deciding the CSS is much more thoughtful and saves me a lot of time!
I want this site's design to be elegant, reminiscent of a garden or a ballroom.
I have also met so many cool people this month (and last year)! In recent years I have been kind of reticent about making new online mutuals, but everyone I have befriended have been really nice and are also on the same wavelength of "weirdness" (I mean this as a compliment I swear) as me. Make friends who will match your freak.
On a less positive note, this month has been really frustrating for me post-graduation. The job market is absolutely terrible right now. Nobody is hiring, but they're pretending that they are. I know none of it is my fault, but it is still very frustrating getting rejection emails from companies that probably didn't even have a human being look at my resume/cover letter. You can't expect applicants to give you time and basic respect when you won't do the same.
I was recently playing the Visual Novel "ATTACHMENTDOLL", which I plan to write a
separate review for.
But the part where Alyosha started to have a panic attack at the prospect of
having to spend the rest of his life working and making up debt was heartwrenching because
I could heavily relate.
"The world is burning, yet I have to worry about getting a 8-to-5?"
I know people in the data science field who have been trying to help me, and my manager from my internship has also been sending me recommendations, so not being alone in this is a comfort I am extremely grateful for.
I'll keep at it until I get something. It's not like I have a choice anyway, lol.
Manifesting February brings good things!
