September Musings

Anticipating that I'm probably going to be too busy to write a end-of-September blogpost, I decided to write it early. But also, I had to remind myself that I don't have to limit the amount of blogposts I make. Sometimes I have thoughts that are too long to fit Status.cafe or Bluesky.

Anyway, with that aside.

✦ I'm finally employed! ✦

After almost 8 months of searching (and multiple Discord messages & social media posts & blog entries of venting about the job market), I finally found a full-time job!🎉

While I did practice for it, I got nervous during the actual interview for various reasons, partially cuz I was on my period which always sours my mood. So I was surprised when I got a call saying I got the position. I still didn't fully believe it until I got the actual contract in my email, to be honest. I'm extremely thankful I finally found something.

I was jobhunting for so long, and the sheer amount of ghost jobs & straight-up scams was insane. One company that reached out to me with a position I actually really wanted had a seemingly normal website, so I didn't think much of it at first. I didn't realize it was likely a scam until I noticed that the locations and phone numbers were off, even though the company's address was in Canada. It was very weird. I just think it's vile to dedicate that much time & effort to scam applicants.

Going through stuff like that for 8 months was mentally draining. So while I am grateful, I also feel that I have the right to be a little annoyed that things are like this. I'm really hoping that the job market gets better in these coming months.

I also put in my resignation notice at my retail job & spent my shift yesterday saying goodbye to my coworkers. I really did like them, they definitely made working there way more tolerable. I'm honestly shocked that I was there for 3 years because of how bad the turnover is. But I do want to keep in touch & at least visit once in a while.

With all that said, I mainly wanted to say thank you to everyone who encouraged me! I'm also super grateful to my aunt & internship manager/mentor for advising me. I'm trying to stay positive & manifesting that things go well! My start date is next week, so I may not be online as much, but I'll still keep working on this site.

✦ Media I'm Excited For ✦

Timesink incoming

Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave is 3 days away!!! I work my final retail shift this weekend & start my new job next Monday, so I have a few days of freetime to bingeplay my first route. I mentioned it already in my August blogpost, but I have a dedicated Log➚ to post my thoughts & track my progress. There are also so many characters that I need to write down who I'm going to recruit for which Route. Maybe in the future I'll add CSS that emulates the official website.

I was planning on doing something similar with my Shrine➚. Only one shrine is live right now, but it's still a work-in-progress. I initially wanted to get it done before Canto X also comes out in 3 days but oh well. Related to that, the Project Moon Ring➚ has 13 members now!🚌🎊
I've been thinking about making a fanlisting so that you don't need a website to join & also so my friends can participate. There's already a cool Fanlisting➚ for the main titles, so mine will likely be character or Faction specific. I'll probably hold an interest poll like I did for my webring ideas.

Other stuff I'm excited about: Season 3 of The Apothecary Diaries comes out in October! I only recently got into the series a few weeks ago despite me listening to "Be a Flower" like a hundred times. I ended up binging the first two seasons & caught up to the manga lol. I started the light novel too (it was hell trying to find all 16 volumes in English), but I only got to the halfway point of the first one. I decided to pace myself with the light novels so I can still be surprised for the new season.

I think that's everything I've been musing on recently! Again, if I'm not as active it's likely because of work. But I love to yap so I probably won't be 100% radio silent. Hoping this will be a great month.

See you in October!🎃
