The Amazing Digital Circus
June 19 2026
The humor invokes a nostalgia in me for shows of my childhood such as Adventure Time and Gravity Falls, which is obviously the point lol.
I think the cast are all really cute, and it was really fun watching them have moments
of vulnerability through the 8 episodes.
The webseries is also obviously taking inspiration from "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream",
but I don't vividly remember the full story so I might reread it at some point.
I'll write more later, but I really adore Pomni Ragatha and Jax haha.
Episode 9 Finale Thoughts
I think it was very sweet.
I've seen mixed reactions on the writing,
but I think (and I mean this with no offense to the show)
that people kind of ascribe more "depth" to the Amazing Digital Circus series than its creator intended?
And I also think a lot of the more negative reactions are because the ending turned out way more hopeful than I believe a lot of us hadn't conceived of.
But this is about my thoughts.
While I do wish the series had more episodes to explore more of the character relationships, I get why that likely wasn't feasible Production-wise.
I think the finale's pacing was fine.
However, I did think the scene of Pomni narrating right before Jax Abstracted was kiiinda weird.
I think it would've been more impactful if we got to see her Abstract ourselves rather than it instantly cutting to her already being turned into a monster.
But yea, speaking of Jax. I still adore her, sue me.
I thought the finale would make me like her a little less but nope it didn't.
The scene of her and Ribbit confessing to each other was really nicely directed.
I loved the visuals with the lights in Ribbit's room.
While I still do agree Jax is an asshole, I think it's? Not hard to understand why she started pulling away after she felt embarassed by coming out about her family and gender issues?
You could immediately tell when she dropped the bow Ribbit put on her head, left it on the floor, and made Ribbit swear to keep their talk secret.
And even before that, the way she would act flippant about anything no matter how serious or dire was clearly her "coping mechanism".
Anyway, I fucking loved the scene of Pomni reaching out to her when she Abstracted.
The visuals, the dialogue, it was all so fucking adorable.
Them playing "Isn't She Lovely" in a montage right after was evil (affectionately).
I could write paragraphs but I really liked the whole scene.
I will admit I didn't understand the line about the brain scans from the beginning and had to be explained later on.
But I still think the ending was poignant in that just because the Circus cast were trapped there and suffering from interpersonal conflicts,
their "future/present" selves were living their lives on their own terms, so the Circus members should try and do the same.
Caine effectively letting them "write their own stories" was meant to reflect that.
Again, yes it's a way more "hopeful" ending than I would have anticipated, but I don't think there's anything wrong with it and I still find it enjoyable.
And everyone who knows me knows I love super bleak stories lol.
The ending shot of the cast together at the bus stop made me smile so much.
I enjoyed the ride until the end, and that's how art should make you feel, right?
Also, I'm happy for Gangle and Zooble that they can fuck now. Genuinely good for them, they deserve it.
