✦ PART I: ABOUT THE CREATOR ✦

What name do you go by online?
Lunar Corvus is my pen name! Everyone is free to call me Mina.
How long have you been creating OCs?
Ever since I was in elementary school. I loved watching and reading and playing media and envisioning my characters becoming part of their worlds.
Where do you keep all the info on your OCs? In a notebook? On a website? Do you share your OC profiles or stories with anyone?
Mainly Google Docs. I used to use Vgen➚ & Toyhouse to store them, but now I'm trying to import all of my OC profiles➚ to my website. I love sharing my OCs with people!
Do you consider yourself primarily a writer, artist, role-player, or something else?
Primarily an artist & programmer. I'm also trying to improve my writing skill.
What first inspired you to start making characters?
Pokemon! I feel like it's super easy to make PokeOCs due to its expansive world-building. But I also tried to make original characters with their own worlds.
What piece of media or fictional world has influenced your OCs the most?
Pokemon, like I said! But more specifically the Pokemon movies. I really loved the slice-of-life aspects that happened before the plot started getting action-heavy. Like, for example, the circus scenes in "Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea", or the scenes in Alto Mare in "Pokémon Heroes: Latios & Latias". Watching the characters interact with Pokemon outside of battle is so much fun and really inspired me.
Which creator, professional or not, inspires you most?
Back in the day, the devs of all the popular RPGMaker games. I get inspired by anyone now, but the creator that drove me to finally learn art was Etherane, the gamedev of the "Hello Charlotte" series.
How many OCs do you estimate you have?
Around 90, I think. The highest amount of OCs I have are from my two original stories, "Requiem for a Violet Crow"➚ and "Waltz Under the Wren's Willow"➚, and then my Pokemon OCs lol.
What genre do you enjoy creating in most? What genre do you rarely create in?
Horror or fantasy-like settings. I had OCs for a scrapped comedy story about psychics, but idk if I could pull that off lol. I just prefer somber stuff more.
What is your favorite character archetype?
Characters that have something "odd" about them. I also really like "obsessive" characters who would literally tear down cities for the one they love.
What character trope are you tired of seeing?
Faux "Girlboss" characters that you're supposed to prop up as feminist just because they can fight. Male characters that are clearly just blatant power fantasies. Characters of color and/or queer characters that have no actual personality or flaws because the creator is too scared to make them anything other than a Token.
What trope do you avoid?
I don't have a specific list, I just try to ensure my characters aren't one-dimensional.
What trope or archetype do you not have and want to create?
Not sure off the top of my head. I don't like defining my characters by tropes to be really honest.
What shipping trope can you never resist? What shipping trope is not your cup of tea?
Codependency, or obsession like I said earlier. I can eat almost anything ship dynamics-wise if it's executed well, but I don't care for most popular ship tropes I see depicted in both adult & YA novels nowadays. Idk. Like I said in the above answer, I don't really like reducing characters of ships to "tropes".
What emotion do you enjoy exploring most?
"Love", especially when it goes beyond what's considered "normal" or "healthy".
What emotion is hardest for you to write?
"Love", but also "Desire". I'm trying to gain the courage to write more "sensual" stuff lmao.
What is your opinion on dark themes and characters?
I'm gonna be super blunt & potentially long with this response because I used to waste so much time online arguing about this stuff and no longer have the energy to argue about it anymore. My apologies in advance lol.

I don't care what others do with fiction because I know myself & I know what my boundaries are. If I see fiction that I dislike or find distasteful, I block/remove it/close the tab and move on. I think the simplest way I could describe my feelings is "Fiction can affect reality in specific cases, but it's the individual's responsibility to use discretion."

At this point in my life, I don't care about pro/anti discourse, and I find the fact that this has somehow turned into "Us vs Them" situation over the years to be incredibly silly and frankly unproductive. People have been having the exact same conversation for years, and we're almost into 2027. I'm just very much over it. I don't care about labels.

So my answer is "I don't mind it. I engage with 'dark' themes/characters on my own terms & boundaries."
What design aesthetic best describes your tastes? What design aesthetic do you dislike?
I love girls with "creepy" designs. I also love juxtaposition in designs. Like say a character that has water powers but looks like they'd have fire powers because they wear a lot of red. For a more personal example I have a Pokemon OC named Cherilyn who specializes in Fairy-types but dresses in Gothic Lolita so everyone thinks she's a Ghost-type user.

I don't like "cluttered" designs. Sometimes less is more. I know Hoyoverse is infamous for this but I've also been seeing it a lot with Vtuber designs and it's so odd to me. TO BE FAIR: I know some artists like drawing a lot of details.
I also don't like species designs that make the men look diverse but make all the women look the same for the sake of keeping them conventionally attractive.
What charm point/moe point do you often include in your OC designs?
Similar to Milky➚ (who also inspired me to make this Hi), I really like giving my OCs unique eye designs. The main characters in my story "Requiem for a Violet Crow" have "symbolic" pupils representing the "magic" they use. For example Mikaela's is a star to represent wishes/dreams, and Melinöe's is the moon to represent nightmares. My recent eye-design inspirations have been Chainsaw Man, Gachiakuta, and Hoyoverse.
Accessories are also super fun, but I have to remind myself not to overdo it so I usually give them one or two "important" accessories. For example, Mikaela's ribbon & eyepatch, Melinöe's locket & hat, Victoria's cat-shaped ocarina & wren feather. (You can also see them in my Gallery➚)
Explain your OC process: do you design characters visually before writing them? Do your characters tend to change significantly over time?
Like I said I don't like defining my characters by "tropes", but I do design them with motifs in mind. So usually I have a motif or design aesthetic in my head ("This character is based off butterflies.") and then I come with their full name, personality, backstory, etc. ("This character is based off butterflies because they're a reincarnation.")

My main OC, Mikaela Joyshire, has the motifs "stars & piano". The stars motif is due to her power to bring dreams to life ("wishing upon a star"), and piano because that's her profession.

I only tend to change characters over time if I no longer "vibe" with their writing. I have a lot of old OCs that were revamped after I cringed at their backstory lmao.
How often do you redesign OCs?
Not very often, I usually only make small adjustments.
Do you keep character references organized? What tools, apps, or websites do you utilize to help keep you organized?
I have them all archived in my laptop's art folder & on Google Docs. But again I'm trying to utilize my website as my main archive.
Do you listen to music while creating?
Yep! Music is the main source of my inspiration. You can see my favorite songs & artists Here➚
Link a song or album you associate with your OC/story.
I'm currently working on my Playlist page with all my imported Spotify albums. But it's not done yet, so I'll link my main ones. (Click the Profile Image to see their playlist!)

What is one thing all your characters seem to have in common?
They all deal with negative emotions, but a lot of the time it tends to be grief. A lot of my OCs also struggle with the roles they feel they have to play.
What is something you hope people feel when they see your work?
I create for myself firstly, but I really hope that my feelings for my characters can come across clearly.
What kind of people do you think are drawn to your characters and stories?
People who "match my oddness", I guess I could say lol. It's fun meeting people who appreciate the same types of stories as I do.
What keeps you creating OCs?
I'm an eternal daydreamer. It's just really fun making up characters and worlds for them to live in and interact with.

✦ PART II: YOUR OC COLLECTION ✦

What was your very first OC like?
Her name was Cynthia and she had dark-blue hair and was very Kuudere. Her backstory wasn't set in stone, so I don't really remember it. I unfortunately don't have any art of her, but maybe I'll revisit her one day.
Do you still have your oldest OC?
Yep! My lovely darling Mikaela. Her design has generally stayed the same with some changes here and there. Here are her references from recent to oldest.
Which OC was created most recently? What inspired them?
My Zenless Zone Zero OCs: Hayera & Lady Peregrine. They're a work-in-progress, but I was mainly inspired because I really like the Bangboos➚ since they're cute little rabbit robots with human jobs, and I thought it'd be fun if there were "aristocrat" Bangboos, so I wanted to make one of my own.
Which OC are you most proud of?
Currently Melinöe. I had a lot of fun designing her scythe & outfit, especially the monochrome colors and cage-like skirt.
Which OC was easiest to create?
My characters for Sanguine Sunrise➚. Since the setting is 1990s Italy, I tried to keep the designs simple & grounded. I also took a lot of inspiration from Reverse: 1999, especially for Fioretta.
Which OC was hardest to create?
Probably Juhua, my Honkai Star Rail OC. Mainly because I wanted to come up with a design that was flashy but not too cluttered. I think I succeeded for the most part.

My real answer is my "Waltz Under Mercy's Willow" character Renier Moon, Victoria's companion. He's a living suit of armor, and I have never drawn armor before. So you can imagine that I've been struggling to nail down a design for him lmao. Hopefully I'll have a reference by the end of this year?
From you or from others, which OC receives the most attention?
Mikaela! I got a lot of art of her Hundred Line AU specifically during Artfight last year. I was super flattered!
From you or from others, which OC do you wish received more attention?
Eh, I don't mind if my OCs get attention or not, but I guess my current "underrated" OC is Juhua.
Which OC is your favorite to draw? Which is the hardest to draw?
Mikaela is my favorite, she has like 20+ outfits lmao. Hardest to draw is most of my Works-in-Progress lmao. I am trying to learn how to draw different body types.
Which OC is your favorite to write? Which is the hardest to write?
My favorite to write are my characters from my Robotic Romance Jam VN "Hoarfrost Wires"➚. I was really aiming for a somber yet domestic setting with these three, and I got a lot of reviews that told me I conveyed that feeling well enough, so I'm proud of myself that I managed to do this with my first visual novel.

I think in general, though, most of my OCs are hard to write because I'm attached to them. So I try to be subjective when writing them, especially when it comes to my less moral characters.
Which OC would you trust with your deepest secret?
Victoria because she tries to be optimistic & kind towards everyone.
Which OC absolutely cannot be trusted?
Pretty much most of my "Lobotomy Corporation" OCs because they're all crazy.
What OC is most similar to you, in appearance, personality, or both?
None of my OCs really 1:1 match my personality. I do have a few West African OCs, but they don't really look like me either. I'm just not the type to self-insert with fiction, to be honest.
Which OC was born from anger?
Mikaela, I suppose. She hides all of her emotions behind a smile but she is very resentful due to the loss she suffered.
Which OC was born from sadness?
Most of my "Violet Crow" characters, especially Mikaela & Melinöe. Victoria was born from a lot of the existential dread I felt upon reflecting on my religious upbringing. I'm not religious anymore, but I still consider myself spiritual, and I also find the concept of reincarnation interesting in a romantic sense.
Which OC exists because there was something you wanted to see in fiction but could not find?
Mikaela & Melinöe. Their dynamic is very strange in the sense that Melinöe 'loves' Mikaela because she thinks they're the same, but Mikaela hates Melinöe for saving her life 'without consent' (and implanting a cursed magical eye in her), and has immense survivor's guilt because of it.

Also Fioretta & Apollonia, since the way they grapple with the dynamic between them that's both psychosexual yet similar to a mother & daughter is intriguing.

It's not that I couldn't find these in other fiction at all. But sometimes when a dynamic isn't common or leaves much to be desired, I tend to try & 'feed' myself instead. That being said my Chatbox & Guestbook are always open for reccomendations.
Choose an OC. What fate are they doomed to repeat?
Mikaela suffers because she 'loves' too hard. But her good ending is her learning to break that cycle, so maybe she'll be alright?
If all your OCs met in one room, what would happen?
It would have to be a small stadium lol. As for my main OCs, I think Mikaela & Victoria would get along for the most part.

✦ PART III: YOUR FAVORITE OC ✦

What is your favorite OC's full name? Do they have nicknames?
Mikaela Joyshire. Mikaela is her nickname, as she keeps her real name a secret.
Describe their appearance. What is their voice like?
Mikaela is very elegant. She has long, carefully-maintained hair and usually dresses in frills and lace. Never takes off her hair ribbon. Her voice is very soft-spoken & melodic (voice claims are Suzie Yeung & Reina Ueda).
What is their occupation?
A pianist. Mikaela wanted to join a conservatory, but her plans got derailed when she was cursed by Melinöe.
What is their most distinctive feature?
Her eyepatch & hair ribbon. Mikaela has heterochromia as her original eye was stolen by Melinöe & replaced with Moira's.
What first impression do people get from them?
"Very gentle & elegant, but something about her seems... unsettling."
What is their greatest flaw?
Her resentment. She's pretty much solely focused on getting revenge for her curse.
What is something they secretly wish people understood about them?
That everything she does is for love, no matter how extreme it may seem.
How would their best friend describe them?
Raniya would say that she's changed for the worse. The Mikaela she knew was timid & earnest, but now is so guarded that Raniya can never tell what she's thinking.
What event shaped them most?
Getting cursed by Melinöe.
What secret are they keeping?
Pretty much anything about Yoko.
Who is most important to them?
Yoko Cordero.
What qualities attract them to someone? What qualities immediately repel them?
Mikaela values earnestness. She doesn't like overly aggressive people, but will still try to "persuade" them & often succeeds.
What would break their heart?
Her heart's already been broken!
What is a skill they're unexpectedly good at?
Sewing, but also partially because Moira being fused with her has boosted her skill at it.
What is something they're terrible at?
Sports, which is the reason why she felt that she didn't felt in with her older siblings, who were both athletes.
What song reminds you most of this OC?
"Polaris" by Aimer➚

"In the silent calm of the night, a tiny boat,
Became a cradle carrying travelers with scars all over their bodies.
The pain displayed on your sleeping face is there to keep others away,
As you head on aimlessly, further and further north.
I thought we'd joined hands, but yours began to slip away,
As if you never really believed you could ever be loved in the first place."
Which animal represents them best?
A Lamb
If they had a signature scent, what would it be?
She'd smell like lilacs.
If they were turned into a doll or figurine, what accessories would be included?
Her hair ribbon & eyepatch.
Oh no! Your OC magically turned into a dish. What kind of food did they turn into?
A fancy box of macarons, but eating her would be playing Russian Roulette since most of the macarons are poisoned.
What would their social media account look like?
Photos of stars, outfits Moira made for her, and sheet music.
Which fictional character from an existing IP would they absolutely hate?
I really don't know. She doesn't like overly aggressive people so anyone who fits that criteria I suppose.
Why do you love this OC?
She's pretty and loving and fucked in the head. I like Mikaela because she's someone who defines all of her actions by love including even violence. I also like her design & giving her cute outfits.

✦ PART IV: LET'S DIG DEEPER ✦

Pick a few of your favorite OCs. What do they all have in common? What do you think that reveals about you?
All of my OCs either deal with grief or love (oftentimes both). Love & Grief are topics that I like to explore since I believe they both take many different forms.
Which OC is most misunderstood by your friends & followers? Why do you think others interpret them differently than you intended?
I don't think any of my OCs are misinterpreted. Potentially it might be Fioretta & Apollo and/or Mikaela, but I'd hope not lol.
If someone analyzed your OC collection without knowing anything about you, what conclusions would they reach about your personality, values, fears, and interests? Would they be accurate?
I like making emotionally messy girls who struggle with negative emotions, and unfortunately there are people who think female characters shouldn't have flaws they don't personally want to see depicted, but also I don't care. Like I said, I make art for myself first, and it's never worth worrying about potential bad-faith criticism.
Which OC embodies a version of yourself that you left behind? Which OC embodies the ideal version of you?
Pretty much all of my scrapped OCs. I guess the ideal version I would want myself to be is Victoria. She's cheerful towards others not because shes's naive, but because she's seen & experienced so much awfulness that she wants to choose the right to be happy.
What recurring wound appears throughout your cast? Abandonment, loneliness, duty, failure, etc.? Why do you think that wound appears so often?
Grief like I've said. Also loneliness & general fears.
Pick an OC story or universe of yours. What question is this story trying to answer?
Kinda rhetorical, since I don't think there is a right answer to how we feel love or how we should grieve for people, or even other things, such as lost friendships or lost interests.
Which aspect of yourself appears in your villains but rarely in your protagonists?
Also kinda rhetorical. A point I have with a lot of my villains is that in "another life", the protags could've easily become them. I mainly focus on this when I'm writing Mikaela & Melinöe, and Victoria & her "villain".
Which OC would understand your darkest thought without judging you? Which OC contains the impulses you refuse to act upon?
Mikaela & Melinöe for both questions. Fioretta for the latter question, but that's story spoilers & our VN isn't finished yet lol.
What would your oldest OC say about the person you've become?
Mikaela would probably say I've become closer to the person I want to become. I think Victoria would be happy for me, though.

✦ PART V: FINAL QUESTION: ✦

Years from now when you are old and grey, long after you've forgotten details, abandoned projects, and your desk is littered with unfinished drafts...one OC remains beside you.

Who is it? Why were they the one that stayed?
Mikaela. She's my main star and always will be lol.

If you made it to the end, thank you so much for reading! ★★
