Taking place during the 2000s in a world quite similar to our own, a young woman adorned with an eyepatch and a perpetually warm smile lands on the train station of the city of Moonisle Harbor.

Claiming she was cursed with the power to manifest dreams into reality in exchange for her right eye, Mikaela seeks to take back what was stolen from her with the help of an allegedly talking crow named Moira.

Two 'worlds' exist conjointly in the universe of "Requiem for a Violet Crow": The human world we know of, and the esoteric world of The Thrilight Garden.

The Thrilight Garden is a world made of flowers illuminated by the perpetual light of three moons. It is inscrutable, due to possesing a mind and will of its own. Many of its residents believe it to be the leftover consciousness of the world's now-deceased deities known as the "Progenitor Providence" Trio, who saved the planet from a disastrous event.

The residents of The Thrilight Garden are the Providence(s), a species of bird-like creatures that can control magic using their Eyes. While they share one language, the Providences throughout The Garden range from various bird families.

Although The Thrilight Garden exists on seperate plane of reality, it is always close by, seeping into our reality through tiny rifts in space and time.
